This standard specifies the aluminate colorimetric method for the determination of soluble silica in various waters. This standard is applicable to the determination of soluble silica in coal mine industrial water, domestic water, surface water, and groundwater. When 50mL of test water sample is taken, the concentration range measured is 0.1~5mg/L. Diluting water samples can expand the measurement range. This standard is not applicable to the determination of soluble silica in water samples that cause interference during the reduction and color development processes, produce abnormal colors, or contain strong oxidants or reducing agents, or organic compounds.
