This standard specifies methods for evaluating the performance of diesel engine oil using high-speed, single-cylinder diesel engines. The performance of diesel engine oil is evaluated by measuring the tendency of deposits in the piston and piston ring grooves and the oil consumption. This standard includes the 1K method [fuel sulfur content 0.4% (mass fraction)] and the 1N method [fuel sulfur content 0.04% (mass fraction)]. The only difference between the two test methods is the use of different fuels. The 1K method is suitable for evaluating CF-4 and CH-4 diesel engine oils, etc., and the 1N method is suitable for evaluating CG-4 diesel engine oil, etc. This standard uses International System of Units [SI] units. This standard involves certain hazardous materials, operations and equipment, but it does not make recommendations on all safety issues related to this. Therefore, users should establish appropriate safety systems and protective measures before using this standard.
