This standard specifies the technology and acceptance criteria for using ultrasonic testing methods to detect defects in steel welds of lifting machinery (including bridge and gantry cranes, mobile cranes, tower cranes, jib cranes, etc.). The ultrasonic testing technology specified in this standard is suitable for testing full-penetration fusion welded joints with base metal thicknesses of 8mm to 100mm. If the testing process specifications are approved by all parties to the contract, it is also suitable for testing base metal thicknesses of 6mm to 8mm. Full penetration fusion welded butt welded joints in unlined structural steel. The weld levels referred to in this standard: Level 1 refers to the welded joints of important tension structural members; Level 2 refers to the welded joints of general tension structural members; Level 3 refers to the welded joints of pressure structural members.
