This standard specifies the laboratory use of high shear rate conical plug viscometer model BE/C (single speed) or BS/C (multiple speed) under the conditions of 150℃ and 1×10 and 100℃ and 1×10 Determine the viscosity of lubricating oil. Newtonian calibration oil can be used to adjust working gaps and calibrate instruments. The viscosity range of these calibration oils at 150°C is approximately 1.8mPa·s~5.9mPa·-s, and the viscosity range at 100°C is approximately 4.2mPa·s~ 18.9mPa·s. Calibration oil beyond this viscosity range cannot be used. If calibration oil beyond this viscosity range is used, the accuracy of this method is no longer applicable. This standard specifies the use of non-Newtonian check oils to verify the reliability of test conditions. The precise viscosity of each batch of check oil is established by testing on multiple instruments in different laboratories. The exact value for checking the oil viscosity can be obtained from the Chairman of the European Coordination Committee (CEC) L-36-A90 Supervision Group or the oil supplier. This standard applies to the testing of internal combustion engine oil. This standard uses mPa·s as the unit of viscosity. This standard does not include all safety matters that may be involved during use. Therefore, users should establish appropriate safety and protective measures and determine an applicable management system before using this standard.
