- This standard specifies requirements for armored thermocouple cables and armored thermocouples, but does not include requirements for reference junction seals, interfaces, connectors, and other accessories. This standard applies to armored thermocouple cables and armored thermocouples for general industrial use consisting of a pair of cheap metal couple wires. Multi-core and single-core armored thermocouple cables and armored thermocouples in bushings can also use this standard, in which case the specific provisions (eg, dimensions) in this standard may not be adopted. This standard does not apply to precious metal armored thermocouple cables and armored thermocouples. Special requirements for primary circuit applications in nuclear fields are specified by other standards.
