This standard is suitable for classifying mass-produced magnetic materials. "Magnetic material" means a substance whose application requires it to be ferromagnetic or ferrimagnetic. In this standard, the classification of magnetic materials is based on the recognized main two categories of products:
——Soft magnetic materials (coercive force ≤ 1 000 A/m);
——Permanent (hard) magnetic materials (coercive force > 1 000 A/m). Within these soil categories, the following characteristics can be identified when the classification is reasonable:
——the main alloying elements, metallurgical state and physical properties of the material;
——the interrelationships between these characteristics can be identified when possible and convenient. Classification according to specific areas of application does not apply to all materials, since different materials can often be used for the same purpose depending on their required properties.
