Scope
This standard specifies the conversion method between the elongation after break of different gauge lengths at room temperature, including the elongation conversion formula, conversion factor table and the graph for such conversion. This standard is applicable to samples of austenitic stainless steel in the state of fixed rolling treatment, the tensile strength is 450~750MPa, the gauge length does not exceed 25√S0, and the width-to-thickness ratio does not exceed 20. This standard does not apply to cold rolled steel. For quenched and tempered steel and non-austenitic steel, when the thickness of the plate sample is less than 3mm, the exponent n in the formula (1) of this standard increases with the decrease of thickness, and the converted elongation value must be agreed between the supplier and the buyer. The conversion method of this standard is uniformly adopted internationally, and its conversion within the scope of this standard is reliable. However, because there are many factors affecting the determination of elongation, whether to use this standard for conversion should be determined by relevant standards or agreements. In case of dispute or arbitration, the elongation value shall be determined according to the gauge length stipulated in the relevant standards or agreements.
