This standard specifies two methods for the determination of moisture and volatile content in animal and vegetable oils and fats: Method A, using a sand bath or electric hot plate. Method B, use a drying oven. Method A of this standard is applicable to all animal and vegetable oils and fats, while method B is only applicable to non-drying animal and vegetable oils with an acid value less than 4. This standard does not apply to the analysis of laurel oil.
