This standard specifies the parallel hot wire method for determining the thermal conductivity of refractory materials. This standard applies to materials whose measured temperature is not greater than 1250°C and whose thermal conductivity is less than 25W/(m·K), not applicable to conductive materials. Within the scope specified in 1.2, this law also applies to powder and granular materials (see 7.2). Note 1) The thermal conductivity of unfired bricks and monolithic refractory preforms is affected by the dehydration of residual water after hardening or solidification during heating, and the samples must be pretreated. The details of the method, degree of preconditioning, and holding time of the specimens at the time of temperature measurement are outside the scope of this standard and should be agreed between the parties concerned. 2) It is generally difficult to measure heterogeneous materials, especially materials containing fibers, and the measurement of such materials by using this method should also be agreed by the parties concerned.
