This standard specifies the method for the determination of sulfur content in petroleum products by energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometry. This standard applies to hydrocarbons such as naphtha, distillate oil, fuel oil, residual oil, lubricating base oil and unleaded gasoline. The measurement range of sulfur content is from 0.05% (m/m) to 5% (m/m). This standard involves some materials, operation and design that are harmful to health, but this standard does not describe all the safety issues involved in using it. Therefore, before using this standard, users must establish some appropriate safety measures and applicable management systems. See Chapter 7 for some special precautionary instructions.
