This standard specifies the methods for determining the breaking strength and elongation at break of textile yarns taken from packages, that is, four methods are provided: a) Manually, the sample is taken directly from the conditioned package; b) Automatically, taken from the package Samples are taken directly from conditioned packages; c) manually, using conditioned slack test skeins; d) manually, using wetted samples. Method c) is used in case of disputes regarding the elongation at break of the yarn. Note: It is expected that the three methods a), b) and c) will give the same yarn stretching results, however method c) may give more accurate (and higher) elongation values than methods a) and b). The results of breaking strength and elongation at break determined by method d) may not be exactly the same as those determined by methods a), b) and c).
