- Scope
- This part of the standard classifies the environmental parameters and severity to which products installed on ships are subjected. These products are intended for permanent or temporary installation on: Mechanically propelled vessels, including mobile offshore platforms; Non-mechanically propelled vessels, including sailboats and life rafts. The specified ratings apply to vessels of all sizes, from yachts to fishing trawlers, ferries, icebreakers, cargo ships (including tankers). The areas where ships normally sail are; Inland waterways (canals, rivers, lakes); Coastal waters; Open ocean. Also includes ice areas where the ship must navigate.
