Scope: This standard specifies the method summary, reagents and materials, instruments and equipment, samples, measurement steps, result calculation, method precision and test report for the determination of total moisture in coal. The nitrogen drying method (method A1 and method B1) specified in this standard is applicable to all coal types; the air drying method (method A2 and method B2) is applicable to bituminous coal (except easily oxidized coal) and anthracite. This standard uses method A1 as the arbitration method. Note: This standard also gives the microwave drying method for the rapid determination of total moisture. The microwave drying method is applicable to bituminous coal and lignite, see Appendix A.
