Scope
This standard specifies the technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation and storage of food additive sodium benzoate. This standard applies to the food additive sodium benzoate produced by the reaction of benzoic acid produced by oxidation of petroleum toluene with sodium bicarbonate. This product is mainly used as a food preservative. Molecular formula: C7H5NaO2 Relative molecular mass: 144.11 (according to the international relative atomic mass in 1989)
