This part of GB/TI 2423 gives a standard test method process to determine the ability of components, equipment and other products (hereinafter referred to as samples) to withstand sinusoidal vibration of specified severity. If the test requires an unpackaged form, it indicates that the test sample is unpackaged. However, if the test requires samples to be packaged, use the packaged product and consider the product and its packaging as one sample under test. The purpose of this test is to identify mechanical weaknesses and/or degradation of properties of the sample. Use these data, combined with the relevant specifications to determine whether the sample is acceptable. In some cases, this test method can be used to demonstrate the mechanical structural integrity of samples and/or to study their dynamic characteristics. Components can also be classified according to their ability to withstand different severity levels of this test.
