In general, this document of GB/T 14536 applies to electrical automatic controllers used in household and similar equipment or used with these equipment. These devices can use electricity, gas, oil, solid fuels, solar energy, etc. or combinations thereof. Note 1: In this document, the word "equipment" means "apparatus and equipment". Example 1: Controllers for appliances within the scope of IEC60335. This document applies to building automation controllers within the scope of GB/T28847. This document also applies to automatic controllers for equipment that may be used in public places, such as those used in shops, offices, hospitals, farms, and commercial and industrial applications. Example 2: Controllers for commercial catering, heating and air conditioning equipment. This document also applies to a separate controller as part of the control system, or a controller that is mechanically combined with a multi-function controller with non-electrical outputs. Example 3: Water valves installed independently, controllers in smart grid systems and building automation systems within the scope of ISO 16484 2 . J.1.4 Addition: Appendix J applies to controllers for discrete thermistor devices and thermistors made of doped ceramic or polymer semiconductor materials. Annex J applies to intrinsic safety, operating temperature values and tests for controllers using thermistors within or remote from the controller. Note: These thermistors can be used: a) self-heating as a self-controlled heater or similar applications; b) as a control element; or c) as a sensing element. Annex J does not apply to thermistors used in controllers that have further measures to ensure that they perform safety functions. These requirements apply to both positive temperature coefficient (PTC) and negative temperature coefficient (NTC) type devices. Control devices, such as current limiters, are not intended to replace current interrupting devices such as fuses, but are used to provide a level of overcurrent protection to meet end-equipment requirements. Standard-Specific Requirements Standards may contain additional requirements for thermistors used in complete controllers. J.3.15 Definition of thermistor China J.3 Terms and Definitions J.3.15.1 Thermistor t her rmi stor A semiconductor resistor sensitive to heat, which exhibits resistance/temperature (R/ T) The resistance of the characteristic changes significantly nonlinearly with the change of temperature. Note 1: The change in temperature may be caused by the current through the thermistor, or due to changes in ambient temperature, or a combination of the two. Note 2: The thermistor is not considered an electronic device (according to Appendix H). J.3.15.2
