Scope
This document gives three methods for evaluating the resistance of low-alloy steels to atmospheric corrosion. Method 1 is a prediction method based on short-term corrosion data of steel; Method 2 is a prediction method based on the chemical composition of steel; Method 3 is a prediction method based on environmental factors and chemical composition of steel. Method 1 in this document is suitable for using existing short-term atmospheric corrosion data of specific grades of low-alloy steel in different environments to evaluate its long-term corrosion losses; Method 2 is suitable for evaluating low-alloy steel based on the corrosion resistance index (I) Evaluate the relative corrosion resistance; Method 3 is suitable for estimating the corrosion loss of low alloy steel at different times in different environments. Note: These three methods are calculated based on the test data of flat bare steel exposed specimens. When low alloy steel is in a wet state for a long time, or is severely corroded by some salts or other corrosive chemicals, the actual atmospheric corrosion rate will be much higher.
