This standard specifies the general method for measuring chromaticity by visual colorimetry with platinum-diamond standard solution as the standard color. This standard applies to the determination of the chromaticity of a clear, transparent, light-colored liquid reagent whose hue is close to that of the platinum-diamond standard solution. When using this standard to measure chromaticity, the detection limit is 4 Hazen units. When the chromaticity is not greater than 40 Hazen units, the measurement error is 12 Hazen units. This standard does not apply to the determination of easily carbonized substances.
