This standard specifies the conventional method for measuring the natural gamma spectrum of rock samples in the laboratory using sodium iodide detectors and high-purity germanium detectors. This standard is applicable to the use of sodium iodide detectors and high-purity germanium detectors in laboratories to analyze the natural gamma spectrum of the rock sample to be measured when the minimum count rate is higher than the lower detection limit of the spectrometer and the maximum count rate is less than 104 cps.
