Scope

This standard specifies the technical requirements for optical interfaces of synchronous digital series equipment or systems. This standard includes the classification of optical interfaces, definition of parameters, numerical values (specifications) of application parameters, and optical transmission channel design methods. This standard applies to synchronous digital series equipment and systems used in public telecommunications networks. Synchronous digital series equipment and systems used in dedicated telecommunications networks may also refer to this standard.
