SY/T 6423.7-1999 Petroleum and natural gas industries.Non-destructive testing (NDT)methods of steel tubers for pressure purposes.Ultrasonic testing of the ends of seamless and welded steel tubes for the detection of laminar imperfections (English Version)
1.1 This standard specifies the requirements for full circumferential ultrasonic testing of seamless steel pipes and welded steel pipes for end delamination defects. The purpose of this standard is to detect delamination defects in the ends of flat-end steel pipes and beveled steel pipes that may affect subsequent processing operations (such as welding, ultrasonic testing of welds, etc.). 1.2 This standard is applicable to the testing of steel pipes with a nominal outer diameter greater than 30mm. The lower limit of wall thickness is not specified, see Note 1. Note 1 For steel pipes with a nominal wall thickness less than 5 mm, difficulties may be encountered when using this method to detect and determine the size of defects. When this occurs, it is required that the purchaser and manufacturer negotiate to determine the testing method to be used.
