This document is applicable to the use of A-type pulse ultrasonic flaw detector to inspect unbonded defects in marine metal composite materials made by explosive welding, centrifugal casting, cold and hot rolling, surfacing and powder metallurgy. Inspection of unbonded defects in composite materials for other uses may also refer to this document. This document does not apply to the inspection of composite materials with an acoustic impedance ratio (ie, the ratio of high impedance to low impedance) greater than 3. For the inspection of composite materials with a base metal thickness less than 6 mm, a composite layer thickness less than 1 mm and a curvature radius less than 150 mm, it is recommended to use the method in Appendix A.
