- This standard specifies the penetrant inspection methods (coloring inspection and fluorescence inspection) and the classification of defect traces for opening defects on the surface of welds and adjacent base metals. This standard is applicable to the inspection of surface opening defects of the following metal welds: a. Welds welded with non-magnetic materials; b. Fillet welds of magnetic materials and welds where magnetic particle inspection is difficult or the inspection results are poor, such as butt joints Inspection during the root cleaning process of double-sided welding seams, etc.
