- Scope
- This International Standard describes a method for measuring the elongation at break of ceramic layers by uniaxial tensile or compression testing, coupled with acoustic emission to monitor the onset of cracking in the layer. Strains in tension or compression can also be applied by bending in a four-point bend test. In favorable cases, the measurements can be carried out at elevated temperatures as well as at room temperature.
