1.1 This standard specifies the dimensional requirements for test specimens and sheets produced by molding from plastic materials or by mechanical processing from molded articles of any shape. This standard specifies the designation and dimensions of test specimens used for the collection of comparable data or other frequently used test specimens. It specifies the following types of test specimens: a) Type A1 and Type A2 test specimens (1 = injection molded, 2 = Machined from sheet or molded product) It is a tensile test specimen that can be used for a variety of other test specimens if simply processed (see Annex A). The main advantage of multi-purpose test specimens is that all test methods presented in Annex A can be performed in any laboratory on comparable molded parts.
