This standard specifies functional requirements for bridge configuration, bridge layout, bridge workstations, and bridge environment, and seeks to provide guidance on methods and solutions to meet these functional requirements. The requirements of this standard apply to all bridges. Applies to functions. The purpose of this standard is to help and assist operators and navigators to operate effectively and safely in the work space. Additionally, bridge requirements will be clarified to ensure safety and effective operation while the ship is at anchor, regardless of the watch assignment at a specific time. This standard should be used for the purposes of SOLAS Chapter 5, Rule 15. It does not provide requirements and guidance on human factors aspects of the mission system (e.g. training, procedures), but does provide guidance on safe and effective watchkeeping. The primary use of this standard is to design the bridge of a ship, and it will also be useful for:
——Acquirers and specifications preparers of bridge equipment and ships - Operators, etc. - Requirements for this requirement throughout the life of the ship. This standard can be applied to sailing vessels, and there are physical limitations in applying this standard to small vessels or specially designed vessels.
