- Scope
- This part of ISO 21029 specifies operational requirements for portable vacuum insulated cryogenic vessels with a capacity of not more than 1000 liters designed to operate above atmospheric pressure. Appropriate parts may be used as guidelines for the design of containers for operation open to the atmosphere. Different requirements may apply for cryogenic containers designed for personal medical use. The scope includes commissioning, filling, product removal, on-site transportation, storage, maintenance, periodic inspection and emergency procedures. Other additional requirements may apply to the transport of these containers on public roads, rail, sea and air; these are set out in special regulations. Portable cryogenic containers with a capacity of no more than 1000 liters are often partially equipped by the manufacturer, but can be set up or moved by others, such as the operator or owner. For this reason, parts of the scope of this part of ISO 21029, including commissioning, inspection, filling, maintenance and emergency procedures, overlap with ISO 21029-1.
