This part of ISO 12312 applies to all non-corrective products (with zero lenses) intended for direct observation of the Sun, for example when viewing a solar eclipse. Information on using filters for direct observation of the Sun is provided in Appendix A and Appendix B. This part of ISO 12312 does not apply to: a) non-prescription sunglasses (with zero lenses) and lens attachments for general use intended for protection against solar radiation; b) Eye protection against radiation from artificial light sources, e.g. B. from solariums; c) eye protection devices specifically for sports (e.g. ski goggles or other types); d) Sunglasses prescribed for medical reasons to attenuate solar radiation; e) Sun filter with corrective effect.
