This International Standard specifies the shape of the optotypes, quality requirements for the visual test chart, the test procedure and the criteria for the acceptable near visual acuity of personnel for NDT. Requirements for the qualifications of the personnel authorized to carry out the test are also recorded. This International Standard only covers near visual acuity under specified conditions equivalent to those of routine non-destructive testing. What is not treated is the overall visual acuity of a particular person; Users are advised to consider whether a general eye examination by specialized medical personnel is necessary to ensure that general visual acuity is adequate for the work task. This International Standard does not address color vision requirements.
