This standard specifies the potentiodynamic linear scan test method for the polarization resistance R of metallic materials in a seawater environment. This standard is applicable to the comparative evaluation of the corrosion resistance of metal materials in seawater environments. Use this method with caution on easily passivated metal materials such as titanium alloys, duplex stainless steel, and high-nickel steel in seawater environments. For the determination of polarization resistance R of metal materials in other solution environments, please refer to this standard.
