Scope

"Thermal sprayed layers can be metallic or ceramic. Their quality control is only possible to a limited extent using non-destructive testing methods. However, with metallographic examinations, the characteristic features of a sprayed layer such as thickness, microstructure (structure, porosity), bond to the base material and hardness can be reliably assessed. These Mainly microscopic tests, including hardness measurements, are carried out using reflected light microscopes on samples that have been specially ground, polished and, if necessary, etched for structure development
