Scope
This standard specifies the requirements for hand-held monitors (spectrometers) for detection, alarm and identification of radioactive materials, especially for detectors, multi-channel analyzers, identification software, radionuclide libraries and monitor displays. . In addition, general characteristics, general test methods, radiation characteristics, electrical characteristics, mechanical characteristics, safety characteristics and environmental characteristics are specified. The standard also provides guidance for the selection of suitable radionuclide banks, including radioactive materials frequently detected at border crossings. This standard applies to hand-held monitors that detect and identify radionuclides and can indicate the dose equivalent rate around 7 radiation. This standard does not apply to the performance of radiation protection monitors covered by GB/T 4835.1-2012. The monitors covered by this standard may be used for the purposes specified in ISO 22188:2003. This standard may be used for monitors designed without neutron detection capabilities, in which case neutron detection requirements do not apply. This standard does not include high-resolution spectrometers for laboratory use. Considering that front-line law enforcement personnel who may use monitors specified in this standard are often not experts in radiation protection, this requires a user-friendly monitor design and a high degree of inherent safety during operation.
