Scope
This International Standard specifies the principles for tandem testing and longitudinal-longitudinal-transversal testing (LLT testing) for the detection of inhomogeneities oriented perpendicular to the surface. The general principles necessary for the ultrasonic testing of industrial products are described in ISO 16810. ISO 16811 contains a list of symbols and equations. The tandem or LLT test should be used to detect flat inhomogeneities with a distance to the surface of more than 15 mm. This International Standard has been prepared for the testing of metallic materials with a thickness between 40 mm and 500 mm and parallel or concentric surfaces. However, provided that special measures are taken, it can be used for other materials and smaller thicknesses.
