Scope
This part of ISO 19065 specifies a naming system for acrylonitrile styrene acryl ester (ASA), acrylonitrile (ethylene propylene diene) styrene (AEPDS) and acrylonitrile (chlorinated polyethylene) styrene (ACS) molding compounds , which can serve as a basis for specifications. ASA, AEPDS and ACS molding compound types are differentiated from each other using a classification system based on suitable value ranges of the characteristic properties: a) Vicat softening temperature, b) melt volume flow rate, c) Charpy impact strength, d) tensile modulus , and is based on information about the composition, intended application and/or processing methods, important properties, additives, colorants, fillers and reinforcing agents. This part of ISO 19065 is applicable to all ASA, AEPDS and ACS molding compositions with a continuous phase based essentially on styrene/acrylonitrile (SAN) copolymer (in which the styrene component may be styrene itself and/or alkyl-substituted styrene) based, and a disperse elastomeric phase, mainly based on acrylate (ASA molding compounds), ethylene-propylene-diene (EPDM) (AEPDS molding compounds), chlorinated polyethylene (ACS molding compounds), with or without admixture of other components in amounts such as defined in data block 1. It applies to ready-to-use ASA, AEPDS and ACS molding materials in the form of powder, granules, pellets or chips, modified or unmodified with colorants, additives, fillers, etc. This part of ISO 19065 is not applicable to materials a) with less as 10% mass fraction of bound acrylonitrile in the continuous phase; b) with a Charpy impact strength of less than 3 kJ/m2; c) with a mass fraction of less than 50% acrylate in the elastomeric phase in ASA; d) with a mass fraction of less than 50% ethylene-propylene-diene in the elastomeric phase in AEPDS; e) with a mass fraction of less than 50% chlorinated polyethylene in the elastomeric phase
