This part of ISO 17225 specifies the fuel quality grades and specifications for classified wood pellets for non-industrial and industrial use. This part of ISO 17225 only covers wood pellets made from the following raw materials (see ISO 17225-1). Thermally treated biomass pellets (e.g. torrefied pellets) are outside the scope of this part of ISO 17225. Torrefaction is a mild pretreatment of biomass at a temperature between 200°C and 300°C.
