Scope
This standard specifies the method for measuring the thickness of metallic coatings by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) to detect the local thickness of the cross-section of metallic specimens. It is usually a destructive method of detection with an uncertainty of less than 10%, or 0.1 μm. This measurement method can also be used to measure coatings with a thickness of several millimeters, but for such thick coatings, it is recommended to use optical microscopy (GB/T 6462) for measurement.
