Scope
This standard specifies the method for non-destructive measurement of the thickness of non-magnetic metal coatings on metal and non-metal substrates using phase-sensitive eddy current thickness gauges, such as: a) zinc, cadmium, copper, tin or chromium plating on steel substrates; b) composite materials Copper or silver plated on the substrate. Compared with the GB/T 4957 amplitude-sensitive eddy current method, the phase-sensitive eddy current method has no thickness measurement error for coatings on smaller surfaces and larger curvature surfaces. Electrical properties are more affected. To measure the metal coating on the metal substrate, the conductivity and permeability (σ, μ) of one material (such as the substrate material) of the product should be at least 1.5 times the conductivity and permeability of the other material (such as the coating material) . The relative permeability of non-ferromagnetic materials is 1.
