This standard specifies test methods for classifying the lubrication ability of saw chain lubricants when using guide bars and saw chains. This standard specifies stress conditions for saw chains and guides that are reproducible during the sawing process. The tests demonstrated the lubricant's ability to reduce wear between friction components. This standard enables chain saw manufacturers to give recommended specifications and models of saw chain lubricants in the instruction manual. The test device was developed based on the design of the Swedish Test Committee (SMP), and the test procedure also took into account the long-term practical experience of the German Technical Committee for Forestry (KWF) regarding biodegradable saw chain lubricants.
