- Scope
- This International Standard specifies a method for measuring the abrasion wear rate of ceramic coatings using a micro-abrasion test based on the well-known dome grinding method for determining coating thickness according to ISO 26423 [11]. Using this method, data can be obtained to determine the abrasion wear rates of both the coating and the base material, either through two separate tests or through careful analysis of the data obtained from a single series of tests. The test procedure can be applied to samples with flat or non-flat surfaces, while the evaluation described in Section 9 applies only to flat samples. For non-planar samples, more complex evaluation is required, possibly using numerical methods.
