Scope
This part of ISO 16773 specifies a method for evaluating the experimental setup for performing electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) of high impedance coated samples. For this purpose, test circuits are used to simulate high impedance coated samples. Based on the equivalent circuits described, this part of ISO 16773 provides guidance for the use of test circuits to increase confidence in the measurement, curve fitting and presentation of data in the test report. NOTE Due to the nature of the measurements, studies of coated samples with high impedance are more susceptible to artifacts due to electromagnetic interference. Therefore, this part of ISO 16773 considers the aspects of measuring high impedance samples using appropriate test circuits in a Faraday cage. Nevertheless, most manufacturers also offer test circuits in the low and medium impedance range. This allows control of the measurement setup in relation to the low impedance area.
