Scope: This International Standard specifies a test method for the dynamic testing of transmucosal type single-post endosseous dental implants together with their prefabricated prosthetic parts. The method is most suitable for comparing endosseous dental implants with different designs or sizes. This International Standard is not a test to determine the basic fatigue properties of the materials from which implants and prosthetic parts are made. This International Standard is not applicable to dental implants with endosseous lengths shorter than 8 mm or to magnetic retention elements. Although this International Standard simulates the functional loading of an endosseous dental implant under "worst case" conditions, this standard is not applicable to predict the in vivo performance of an endosseous dental implant or denture, particularly when used for a Multiple endosseous dental implants can be used to replace dentures.
