This International Standard specifies a system for the uniform marking of molded parts made from plastics. Measures when carrying out the marking process are not the subject of this International Standard. NOTE 1 Precise details of labeling, e.g. B. Minimum size of the object to be marked, size of the labeling, the appropriate attachment of the labeling are subject to the agreement between manufacturer and user. The marking system is intended to assist in the identification of plastic moldings for the purpose of handling, recovery or disposal. The code letters and abbreviations used enable type-specific identification of plastics according to ISO 1043-1, ISO 1043-2, ISO 1043-3 and ISO 1043-4. NOTE 2 If further material identification information is required, other appropriate markings may be applied to the plastic moldings as specified in the relevant product standard. This International Standard is not intended to supersede, replace or in any way affect product standards or regulatory requirements for labeling.
