This International Standard specifies safety and performance requirements for the design and testing of bicycle racks intended to be mounted (with and without tools) above and to the side of vehicle wheels and provides guidelines for the use and maintenance of such bicycle racks. This International Standard does not apply to removable luggage bags (e.g. bags or baskets on handlebars that are not permanently attached). Toy racks intended to be attached to bicycles of small children and covered by the scope of ISO 8098 are not covered by this International Standard.
