This standard specifies a method for the determination of active oxygen content in commercial washing powder. This standard is applicable to the determination of peroxygen hydrates, such as sodium perborate and sodium percarbonate; it is not applicable to the analysis of washing powder containing products that can react with acidic permanganate in addition to peroxygen hydrates under analytical conditions . This method still applies when it contains ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) or other similar chelating agents, provided that the concentration does not exceed 1% (m/m).
