Scope
This standard specifies the gas chromatographic method for the determination of alkylmercury (methylmercury, ethylmercury) in water. This standard applies to the determination of alkylmercury in surface water and sewage. This method enriches the alkylmercury in water with mercapto cotton, resolves with hydrochloric acid sodium chloride solution, then extracts with toluene, measures with the gas chromatograph of band electron capture detector, and the minimum detectable concentration that actually reaches varies with instrument sensitivity and water The sample matrix effect varies. When 1L of water sample is taken, methylmercury is usually detected at 10ng/L, and ethylmercury is detected at 20ng/L. Sulfur-containing organic compounds (mercaptans, thioethers, thiophenols, etc.) in the sample can be enriched and extracted, and accumulate in the chromatographic column during the analysis process, reducing the separation efficiency of the chromatographic column and interfering with the determination of alkylmercury. Regular injection of benzene saturated solution of mercury dichloride into the chromatographic column can remove these disturbances and restore the separation efficiency of the chromatographic column.
