This standard specifies the general requirements for the overall layout and safety facilities of the ammunition compartment of surface ships, as well as the general requirements for the safety and operability of the storage and transfer systems arranged in the ammunition compartment. This standard applies to the design of surface ship large, medium and small caliber naval gun ammunition compartments, ship portable weapons ammunition compartments, depth bomb compartments, shipboard tube torpedo magazines, electronic warfare weapon ammunition compartments, and aviation mine magazines. This standard does not apply to the design of surface ship missile depots and aviation ammunition bays.
