- This standard specifies the basic guidelines for engineering-level requirements for noise measurements at the operator's location. The noise test specification for the operator's position of a specific machine shall be formulated based on this standard. This standard applies to the operator's position and other designated positions of machines and equipment other than vehicles, ships, aircraft and other means of transport. This standard also applies to the following operator positions a. Partially or completely surrounded by machines. b. Location within the operating room. The operator compartment may be part of the machine or located at a distance from the machine.
