This part of ISO 11665 describes point measurement procedures for 222 Rn. It provides guidance on how to carry out a point measurement of radon activity concentration within a few minutes at a specified location in open and enclosed atmospheres. This measurement method is used to quickly determine the radon activity concentration in the air. The result cannot be used to predict the annual value of radon activity concentration. This type of measurement is therefore not applicable for assessing year-round exposure. The measurement method described can be used for air samples with radon activity concentrations of more than 50 Bq m-3. NOTE Using a suitable device, the radon activity concentration can be determined, for example in the soil and at the interface between a material and the atmosphere, using point measurements (see also ISO 11665-7).
