Scope

This standard specifies the operating procedures and specifications for specimen processing, gene amplification, sequence analysis, comparison and identification, and result determination in DNA barcoding identification of medical vector insects. This standard is applicable to inspection and quarantine agencies' use of DNA barcoding technology at border ports to identify species of medical vector insects such as adults (including adults with incomplete limbs), as well as pupae, larvae and eggs that cannot be directly identified based on their morphology.
