This International Standard specifies an evaluation method to compare two methods with established performance characteristics according to ISO/TR 13843 intended for the detection or quantification of the same target group or species of microorganisms. This International Standard provides the mathematical basis for evaluating the average relative performance of two methods using established equivalence criteria. It does not provide any data that allows an assessment of the precision of the compared methods. It is appropriate that the accuracy of the procedures be assessed as part of their performance characterization. This International Standard does not contain methods to verify the performance of a method in a single laboratory.
